Teeth whitening at the dentists?

I want to get my teeth whitened, i have two crowns and I heard that it would be best to go to the dentist and have them whiten my teeth. I was just wondering about your teeth whitening experience at the dentist? Like how much did it cost? What procedure did you have done? How many times did you have to do it? I want my teeth veeery white.

Answer:

A lot depends on the dentist and where you live. There’s more competition in larger cities (especially cities where looks are everything like NYC and LA), so you can get it done cheaper there. The other consideration is how stained your teeth are now. The more stained they are, the more treatments you’ll need and the more it’ll cost.

To give you an idea: In the Detroit area, you can get a dentist to do molds for bleaching trays and give you the first set of a month’s worth of bleach for around $200. 00 to $300. 00. The bleach they use is much better than the stuff they use in Crest Whitening Strips or any other product on the market. You can then get additional monthly supplies of bleach for about $75. 00 to $125. 00 depending. They recommend you don’t bleach your teeth for more than two months at a time though. You can also get laser whitening treatment, which starts around $500. 00, but you only do it once and it gets your teeth almost as white as those of Hollywood superstars.

Best bet is to start with your own dentist and then check the Yellow Pages — some dentists advertise special prices or package deals for teeth whitening.

WARNING: All dentists will strongly advise you against teeth whitening unless your teeth and gums are in very good health. So if you’re not diligent about brushing and flossing, they’ll probably tell you to brush and floss every day for three months and come back. The reason is simple: The bleach and laser treatments are very painful for people who have sensitive teeth and gums.

I went to Brite Smile in Beverly Hills. It took about 30-45 minutes and cost around $500. Totally worth it.
